How does your partner's stress effect your relationship?
Stress, by definition, is stressful. No matter how you twist and turn it, getting away from chronic stress is quite a challenge. The difference between good stress and bad stress is that good stress is necessary and can sometimes actually help us do better in certain situations, such as giving a presentation or climbing a hill or asking for a raise. Your stress level in those moments gets you pumped up and ready to roll. But bad stress or chronic stress, on the other hand, can be very dangerous to your health. Chronic stress means that the stress you are encountering does not go away and you must face it every day. For example, you have a co-worker or boss that you are butting heads with or your mother-in-law has moved in with you unexpectedly and it is not going well. These are things you have to face every day and the stress of them is constant or "chronic."
If your partner is experiencing any of these dilemmas and you are not, it will bring you down and cause undo stress. This can be detrimental to your relationship and if you both don't know how to manage stress separately and manage it together, it can ruin your relationship.
What can you do? There are many stress relieving techniques such as meditation, yoga and exercise. It is very important to learn and practice these techniques on a daily basis so that you don't end up having panic attacks or body ailments related to stress.
